How to delete files using Disk Cleanup?

I would like to share on how to clean up or free your pc disk space. Lets know some fact on this.

What is Disk Space?

The term “disk space” is an amount of computer storage space on random-access memory devices, such as on a hard drive, floppy or USB flash drive.
What is Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr.exe) is a computer maintenance utility included in Microsoft Windows designed to free up disk space on a computer’s hard drive. The utility first searches and analyzes the hard drive for files that are no longer of any use, and then removes the unnecessary files.

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use Disk Cleanup. It removes temporary files, empties the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of system files and other items that you no longer need. You may refer below steps to perform disk clean up on different operating systems.

Windows XP
Method 1
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type cleanmgr
4. Click OK or press Enter
 

Method 2
1. Click Start
2. Go to All Programs
3. Go to Accessories
4. Go to System Tools
5. Click Disk Cleanup

Method 3
1. Open My Computer
2. Right­-click on the drive you want to run Disk Cleanup. This is usually C:\, the 3. drive where Windows XP is installed.
4. Click Properties
5. Go to the General tab
6. Click Disk Cleanup
 

Windows 7/Windows Vista
1. Click Start 2. Go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
3. Click Disk Cleanup
4. Choose what type of files and folders to delete at the Files to delete section
5. Click OK
6. To delete system files that are no longer needed, click Clean up system files. 7. You may be prompted by UAC (User Account Control) to confirm the action.
8. Click Delete Files

Windows 8
1. Click Settings > Click Control Panel > Administrative Tools
2. Click Disk Cleanup
3. At the Drives list, select which drive you want to run Disk Cleanup on

4. Select which files you want to delete
5. Click OK
6. Click Delete files
7. To delete system files that are no longer needed on your computer, click Clean up system files.
